About our clinical services

At the Calgary Family Therapy Centre, we provide free therapy for families with children and youth (18 and under). Families come to us for support with many challenges, including parent–child conflict, anxiety, depression, school refusal, ADHD, aggression, sibling issues, and other concerns that affect family life.

Group Discussion
Our approach is rooted in systemic family therapy, which means we work with families as a whole — not just individuals. We believe healing happens best when relationships, communication patterns, and the broader family environment are understood and strengthened. Together, we create space for new possibilities, resilience, and hope.

Two pathways to service

To ensure families can access care in a way that fits their needs, we offer two program tracks:

Regular Track

1

Designed for families who can wait, this program provides up to 12 therapy sessions. Families are usually seen within about three months of joining the waitlist. All sessions are offered by professionals or graduate-level interns under close supervision of experienced faculty therapists.

Fast Track

2

For families in more urgent distress, Fast Track offers a brief option of 1–2 sessions with significantly shorter wait times — often just one to two weeks. After these sessions, families return to the waitlist for Regular Track if ongoing support is needed.
